Completely remove Atakama on Windows

Completely removing Atakama involves uninstalling the application and then deleting any remaining configuration files. 

This article applies to: Windows 7; Windows 8, 8.1; and Windows 10.

To remove Atakama:

  1. Make sure that your protected files have been removed from your Atakama drive before uninstalling.
  2. To remove the Atakama application, open Control Panel and select Uninstall a Program. If you're having trouble finding "Uninstall a Program," use the search bar in the upper-right corner of Control Panel.
  3. Find and select Atakama in the list of programs that appear, then click Uninstall at the top of the list and follow the prompts in the uninstaller.
  4. Restart your computer to stop any Atakama processes currently in system memory. This will allow you to delete the files in the next steps. 
  5. To remove any remaining configuration files, open This PC ("Computer" for Windows 7 users), then type in %localappdata% in the location bar and hit enter. This will take you to the \AppData\Local sub-folder for your user account.
  6. Find the Atakama folder and move it to the Recycle Bin.
  7. There's one last place to remove files from. To get there, type %homepath% in the location bar and hit enter. This will take you to the home directory for your user account.
  8. Look for the file named atakama.config and move it to the Recycle Bin.
  9. Look for another folder named Atakama and move it to the Recycle Bin.
  10. Empty the Recycle Bin.
