In addition to encrypting files locally, you can also use cloud and network share locations to store your Atakama-encrypted files. See Sharing with Atakama for more information on how to share Atakama-encrypted files with other Atakama-enabled computers that have access to the shared locations.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of using cloud storage in addition to local storage?

Adding a cloud storage location helps protect you from possible loss of files in the event your computer is ever lost or broken. You can also use a cloud storage location to share your Atakama-encrypted files with other Atakama-enabled computers.

How do I connect to a cloud provider?

  1. Open the Atakama Control Center and navigate to the Cloud / Network tab.
  2. Select the provider of choice and click the login button.

  3. Log in with your cloud account credentials and select the folder where you will store your Atakama-encrypted files.

  4. This folder will be added to the list of "Access Locations" within the Cloud / Network tab of the Atakama Control Center.

Note:

  • Copies of your Atakama-encrypted files stored in the cloud will generate sync copies of the files locally on your computer. You will only be able to access the local sync copies of your files. The versions of your files stored in the cloud contain the ".kama" extension and will always remain the encrypted version of the original file.
  • If you experience a loss in connectivity, you will be able to read and modify the local copies of your files and the modified versions of the files will sync to the cloud when connectivity is restored.
  • Multiple Atakama-enabled computers simultaneously editing the same file will create a conflicted version of the file.

How do I connect to a network share location?

  1. Open the Atakama Control Center and navigate to the Cloud / Network tab.
  2. Navigate to and select the folder within the network drive where you will store your Atakama-encrypted files.

  3. This folder will be added to the list of "Access Locations" within the Cloud / Network tab of the Atakama Control Center.

Note:

  • If you experience a loss in connectivity, you will be unable to open or modify your files until connectivity is restored.
  • Multiple Atakama-enabled computers are unable to simultaneously modify the same file.
